My New Falling Leaves Heart Wedding Category

I have to confess I do love weddings and brides. I guess I've loved them since I was a little girl.   I think my love of both is driven by my love of the beautiful white dress you get to wear.  Perhaps they always look Victorian to me!

I can remember when I was in the 2nd or 3rd grade and my teacher was getting married.  She invited her whole class to her wedding.  We all got to see her at the church but not at the reception.  I was in awe of how beautiful she looked and how beautiful her white dress was.

I suspect this love is what drove me to design several Victorian bridal dolls.  Some are "faceless" and some have embroidered faces.

My New Fall Designs Galleries - 20 New Designs For Custom Products

There is no doubt that when it comes to the Fall Season I definitely get a feeling.  My mo-jo gets the better of me and I have to start designing something or crafting something.   I don't know why the fall season always does this to me, but it does.

Every year around the end of August I can start to feel it. This urge to create that just keeps getting stronger and stronger.

It starts slowly and builds gradually until it reaches a full-blown crescendo in November. I can always feel it starting and I know that I won't have any control over it, once again.  You can't fight it, so why not enjoy it.

Every year it just takes over my body. When it does I just have to sew, create floral arrangements or craft something.

Due to all the different types of crafts I've learned over the years the media could be anything: from creating designs for custom fabric or other custom products, mixed media crafts, to paper-clay crafts, rubber stamping, collage, sculpting, painting, sewing, paper crafts, etc. You just never know.

Well, this year first my mind was on all of you and free fall crafts tutorials.   Then my mind was on designing 20 new Fall designs for use on my custom fabrics and custom products at my Linda Walsh Originals Designs Gallery.

New Fabric Designs For My Victorian Books Toile Collection at Spoonflower

I just love my Victorian Books Toile Designs created from the graphics I got from an old Harper's Young People Illustrations Book from 1889 that someone had given me.

As you might recall from a previous Linda's Blog post some of the mixed media projects I created this past summer were mixed media items that required quite a bit of old book papers for collage purposes.  So much so I ran out of the book pages.

Well, in looking around the house I found an old Harper's Young People Illustrations Book from 1889 that was in poor condition and with some of the pages already missing.

I did't know where this book came from and who it belonged to.  Most of the old books I have belonged to my great Aunt Flossie but I didn't think this was one of hers.  The time-frame was right but the book wasn't signed with her name - which she always did on the inside of the front cover.

In looking at the book in poor shape and missing some of the pages I thought it still might be perfect for collage purposes so I started to tear some of the pages out.  I didn't tear too many out because right away I found myself looking at some of the beautiful black and white illustrations that were contained within the book.

They were enchanting: illustrations of Victorian children, Victorian girls with dolls, Victorian families, holiday and seasonal illustrations and more.  I couldn't help but admire the artistic capabilities of the artists who had drawn them back in 1888 to 1889.

So, while tearing out the pages I started to set some that I really liked aside. Needless to say I wound up with a large pile I wanted to keep.  That still left me with a large pile to collage with so I was happy.

Contained within the book were many illustrations of Victorian girls, books, and dolls.  Well, as you know, I love graphics of girls and dolls so, for sure, I wouldn't be using any of these for collage purposes.

Well, I finally got the chance to add four more designs to my Victorian Books Toile Design Collection at my Linda Walsh Originals Fabric Designs at Spoonflower.com and I couldn't be happier with them.  They compliment the other designs I have in this collection. There are now twelve different designs in this collection and I'm hoping to add more as time permits.

Like my other whimsical designs these are perfect for sewing and crafting purposes and perfect for making decorations, ornaments, pillows, quilts, etc.

I hope you enjoy our my new designs, which are shown below:

The "dollies" and I are a fun loving bunch and we LOVE to color, which is why I keep creating coloring books.

They also love to design and loved the crayons graphic that I designed so much that they wanted to create a "We Love Crayons" category of custom products for this in our We Love Books Gallery.

New New Little Women Toile Custom Fabric Designs at Spoonflower

As mentioned previously, two of the first books I got from my grandmother back in 1966 when I was a young lady were Little Women and Little Men by Louisa May Alcott.

I loved the books and especially loved Jo because she was so fiercely independent.  I also admired Louisa May Alcott as she was an abolitionist, feminist and involved in the women's suffrage movement.

In so many ways she reminded me of my great aunt Flossie, who was born in 1882 and is shown in the picture above.  She was fiercely independent,  graduated from Tufts University in Medford, Ma in 1904, never married, and worked for the Massachusetts State Department of Corporations & Taxes as a tax assessor.

She, too, was a feminist and suffragette.  Like my grandmother, Flossie was very intelligent but was quiet and reserved.  She had a very strong constitution and was never afraid to let her views and opinions be known.

As you know, during the past few months I've been looking for illustrations in some of the free e-books that are in the public domain on the Project Gutenberg website.

So, you can imagine my surprise when I saw the Little Women free E-Book (cover shown above) on the Project Gutenberg website from 1880 that had more than 200 illustrations by Frank T. Merrill and a picture of the Home of the Little Women by Edmund H. Garrett. Even though they were all black and white I was still thrilled.

My Raggedy Dollies Stories Clothing Line and Summertime #1 Collection

As you all know, I always find multiple uses for everything I do and utilizing all the "dollie" graphics I had created from the Raggedy Dollies Stories free e-books was no different.

This time I decided to combine some of the different graphics I had created for a Raggedy Dollies Stories custom clothing line for babies, toddlers, and little girls.

I decided to combine some of the individual graphics I had created to create about 30 different combined designs for the little girl clothes: some for everyday use, some for the holidays, and some for the various seasons based on the individual graphics I had.

I figured that I could use all of the clothing line graphics as complementary clothes for the various Raggedy Dollie Stories custom products categories I also wanted to create.

My New Raggedy Dollies Stories Crafting Supplies

As you all know by now I love history, dolls, crafts and free eBooks and have been searching some of the free eBooks out there for Victorian illustrations that I could utilize for ephemeral collage and mixed media purposes.

So, I started searching for old books on dolls and found a copy of some of the old "Raggedy Ann" books out there that are in the public domain.  I found two: 1) "Raggedy Ann Stories" written in 1918 by Johnny Gruelle ebook and 2)  "Raggedy Andy Stories"written in 1920 by Johnny Gruelle ebook.

While the Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy stories are a product of their time, I found the doll illustrations by Johnny Gruelle to be charming as, of course, they depicted all sorts of "dollies" at play.  So, I decided I would adapt the illustrations I liked for my own crafting purposes as well as creating graphics that I could use in some of my custom crafting products and custom products galleries.

I decided to remove the backgrounds for the original illustrations, re-draw the outlines and then adapt them to .png graphics images I could use.  This allowed me to get graphic images that I could use separately and intermingle for all different kinds of purposes.

As you all know, I always find multiple uses for everything I do and utilizing these was no different.  I also like to blend the use between what I can utilize for custom products as well as what I can utilize for "freebies" for all of you.

For one of the "freebies"I decided to take all the illustrations I had captured and create reversible E-printable sheets of the original graphic illustrations as well as removing the backgrounds from some of the illustrations and creating separate graphics that you could use for your crafting needs.  If you would like to get my free reversible collage sheets my Linda's Blog post is here.

Just click on the images above for the full image size.  Then save to your computer and print out a full size image on an 8 1/2" by 11" sheet.  If the image isn't sized for a 8 1/2 " by 11" sheet when you open it in your computer viewer zoom in and re-size it until it fits on a full size sheet and then print it out.

There are so many uses for the illustrations and graphics.  If you want to create a stand-able character that you can use in a diorama or mixed media 3D type creation you can cut out the two images and paste them back to back or paste to heavy paper or chipboard.

Gotta Love My Spring Flowers Home Decor

I don't know if you remember or not but this past Christmas I decided to  purchase some of the Christmas Holiday custom products I had designed for my Linda Walsh Originals Designs Gallery  In particular, the gingerbread design.

I had created all sorts of adorable gingerbread custom products for the holiday season like, Christmas stockings, place-mats (paper, cloth, and laminated), tablecloth, bathroom towels, kitchen towels, coasters, wrapping paper, Christmas cards, LED candles, ornaments, stickers, paper plates, napkins, pillows, tote bags, gift bags, wrapped canvas pictures and wanted to decorate my home with some of them.

I loved four of the products so much I decided to buy some of them with my spring flowers design on them for decorating my home in the spring.

So, this past winter purchased some of my Spring Flowers Collection #1 custom products from my Linda Walsh Originals Designs Gallery for use in my home this spring.  I've been wanting to post pictures for all of you but haven't had a chance until recently.

My New We Love Crayons Designs and Custom Products

They also love to design and loved the crayons graphic that I designed so much that they wanted to create a "We Love Crayons" category of custom products for this in our We Love Books Gallery.

The "dollies" are all very artistic and like to try all different types of art supplies to use for their artistic mixed media, collage, decoupage, scrapbooks, and paper crafts creations.  So, of course, we had to start with crafts supplies for their new "We Love Crayons" category.

DIY Face Mask Kits From Spoonflower

Spoonflower launched a new product yesterday (5/5/2020) -  DIY Mask Kit for everyone who wants to make fabric masks during these pandemic times.

I am glad that Spoonflower did this as their kit will allow more people to easily sew fabric masks based on their easy to use fabric template.  Plus, it will allow them to create masks with some of my unique and whimsical custom fabric designs on them, like the one shown below which has my "Let's Dance!" blue footed booby of the Galapagos design:

According to Spoonflower There is a huge demand and need to support our communities in safe ways as social distancing measures are eased. We want to make it as simple as possible for our customers to participate in the safety measure of wearing a mask.

Also, according to Spoonflower: The coronavirus pandemic has seen the world transition into making and wearing fabric masks, as recommended by the CDC and many governments, so we jumped into action to serve this need by creating masks that help you take precautions in public settings, while allowing you to express yourself with any design you like.
